Prof. Jianwu Dang embarked on his academic journey with a strong foundation in computer science, earning both his bachelor’s (1982) and master’s (1984) degrees from Tsinghua University. His career began as a lecturer at Tianjin University (1984-1988) before moving to Japan, where he became a senior researcher at ATR Human Information and Communication Laboratories (1992-2001). During this period, he also worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Waterloo, Canada (1998-1999). Later, he held prominent positions such as Professor and Director of the Intelligent Information Processing Laboratory at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (2001-2022) and First-Class Research Scientist at the Institute for Speech Communication, Grenoble, French Academy of Sciences (2002-2003).
